Pets Best Announces Launch of Full Hereditary and Congenital Pet Insurance Coverage
Oct 14, 2013 | Dr. Jack L. Stephens
Expanded coverage now available in 29 states
BOISE, Idaho – Pets Best, a leading nationwide pet insurance agency based in Boise, Idaho announced today its popular BestBenefit accident and illness plans have been expanded to include full coverage for hereditary and congenital conditions. Pets Best is currently rolling out the expanded plans across the nation, with full hereditary and congenital coverage now available in 29 states. Full hereditary and congenital coverage is available for pets of all ages, with no second deductibles or additional restrictions on policy limits. “While Pets Best has always offered coverage for common breed-specific conditions such as Wobbler syndrome, intervertebral disc disease and cherry eye, we recognized the value of expanding our BestBenefit plans to include full coverage for hereditary and congenital conditions,” said Dr. Jack Stephens, president and founder of Pets Best. “Many hereditary and congenital conditions require ongoing veterinary treatment to improve pets’ quality of life, which is why we sought to provide pet owners with the most comprehensive, straightforward and affordable coverage possible.” The Pets Best BestBenefit plans offer comprehensive coverage for accidents and illnesses, with no upper age limits, low deductibles and reimbursement rates from 70 to 90 percent. As part of the expanded coverage, only seven conditions have one-year waiting periods, which may be significantly reduced following a veterinary examination. These seven conditions include cruciate ligament injuries, luxating patellas, portosystemic shunts, elbow dysplasia, hip dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans and cardiovascular defects. The waiting periods for these conditions can be reduced to only 14 days if a veterinary exam confirms the pet does not have these health conditions. The exam must be performed up to 10 days prior to enrollment or no later than 30 days after enrollment. “The decision to offer this additional coverage came as a result of valuable feedback from pet owners and trusted members of our nation’s veterinary community,” Dr. Stephens said. “Pets Best is committed to providing its clients with new options and continued innovations that support our ongoing mission to keep pets healthy and happy.” Pets Best was the first pet insurance agency in the nation to offer straight percentage reimbursements with no benefit schedule or usual and customary limits. The agency also boasts the industry’s fastest claim turnaround time, with an astounding 92 percent of claims processed within two days.* In addition, Pets Best recently introduced low-cost cancer coverage and feline illness plans, providing pet owners with a wider and more specialized selection of insurance coverage. “With our competitively priced coverage and growing number of options, Pets Best is proud to offer the most comprehensive benefits and the best value to pet owners across the nation,” Dr. Stephens said. “The addition of full hereditary and congenital coverage serves to strengthen our position as the industry’s most trusted and client-focused pet insurance provider.” For more information about the pet insurance coverage offered by Pets Best, visit www.petsbest.com. *According to Pets Best claims data from April to December of 2012.
