Our next question is: Are there holistic treatments for my dog's Cushing's Disease? The dog is 13 years old and has been on medication, but it's starting to take a toll on him. So I'd like to seek holistic treatments.
There are some veterinarians that take holistic approaches to many different types of problems. My experience is generally they can be used as an adjunct to conventional treatment, but I would never really treat a disease like Cushing's with holistic approach alone. For my patients, I generally recommend the more conventional Western medicine for Cushing's disease, but sometimes alternative therapies can provide relief for some of the side effects that come with the medications.
