Is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever the Right Dog Breed for You?

The Chesapeake has been bred to hunt and fetch ducks  and the coat color is meant to blend in with their surroundings.  They have excellent retrieving skills and can withstand extreme weather and harsh conditions.  They tend to be more dominant,  territorial and aggressive than other retrievers.  They are intelligent and willing to work.  Shyness and over-protectiveness are discouraged in breeding lines.  They require some grooming and have high need for activity and exercise.
