Is a Pug the Right Dog Breed for You?
Pugs have been bred solely for companionship and therefore are good family dogs.  They are lively and playful, and good with children.  They can possess an independent streak and are alarm barkers.  While they can be suited to rural and urban homes, they must be indoor dogs due to their intolerance of heat extremes.  They are moderate shedders, and have low grooming needs, but care needs to be taken to clean skin folds around the face daily.  Light daily exercise is recommended.
